Taupō Moana Group Holdings (TMGH) investment into the iconic Chris Jolly Outdoors supports tribal aspirations for our people, strengthening the Māori presence on the lake and greater employment opportunities.
TMGH is the commercial subsidiary of the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board which has an intrinsic relationship with, ownership and kaitiakitanga (guardianship) over Taupō Moana (lake) and Awa (rivers).
Chris Jolly Outdoors was founded in 1980 by Chris and Sue Jolly. Son, Simon and his wife Katie took over in 2017 and then in 2019 the couple partnered with Tūwharetoa to jointly own and operate Chris Jolly Outdoors.
Our partnership enables manuhiri (guests) to experience a deeper Māori connection with te taiao (environment) and our people, and supports our kaitiakitanga over both our moana and our manuhiri (visitors).
We offer an array of experiences, from scenic cruises on Lake Taupō, private charters, corporate events, fishing trips, and hiking and biking trips.
